Natural beauties

National Park “ Krka “

National Park “Krka” is located not far from picturesque town of Skradin which with every step delights its visitors. The untouched nature and the incredible beauty of the river Krka will make you to return here again and again. The Krka river is a karst and natural phenomenon with the seven travertine waterfalls, of which the most famous and most visited ones are Skradinski Buk and Roški Slap. The newly renovated cycling and hiking trails will bring you a completely new experience of enjoying the nature.

National Park “ Kornati “

In Sibenik-Knin county there are even two from eight National Parks in Croatia. Together with National Park Krka which contains waterfalls, in our county you can enjoy in beautiful natural phenomena, National Park Islands Kornati. It consists 89 islands, islets and cliffs (from 249 in Sibenik-Knin county), that stretch to surface of 220m². Interestingly, only about quarter of the surface is land, while the rest is maritime ecosystem that hides amazing underwater world. The most popular phenomenon of this park are Cliffs so-called “Crowns” of the Kornati Islands, which can best be seen by sailing from open sea to the National Park. Visit Kornati Islands and discover why it attracts so many navigators and hikers every summer.

National Park “Plitvička Jezera “

The oldest and largest National Park in the Republic of Croatia is located between Mala Kapela and Lička Plješivica mountain range (in Ličko-Senjska county). The process of tufa formation, which results in the building of tufa, or travertine, barriers and resulted in creation of lakes, for which the Plitvice Lakes were internationally recognised and put on UNESCO World Heritage List. Because of extraordinary beauty and unique nature is visited by guests all around the world and during the whole year.

Islands

Island Prvić

Adriatic pearl, island without car and an island without a busy life rush, an island where you will truly enjoy peace and relaxation. On island Prvic you can find memorial centre Faust Vrancic, Croatian scientist and inventor, author of many lexicographical, philosophical and poetic works. His greatest invention is Homo Volans, or the “Flying Man”, by which island Prvic is called Faust’s Island.

Island Zlarin

Across the Island Prvic lies Island Zlarin, an island known for its coral and coral tradition, where the Croatian centre of Coral will soon open its door. Be sure to put it on your must-see list!

In addition to Prvic and Zlarin, there are many other islands in the vicinity of Vodice that you get to visit if you take regular ferry line “Jadrolinija”. At any time you can decide to “hide” from the bustling everyday life on one of the beautiful Mediterranean islands.

Old Dalmatian cities

Zadar

Zadar as the centre of North Dalmatia offers many touristic attractions. Taste the typical dalmatian delicacies, visit the amazing historical and cultural sights, and enjoy variety of excursion programs. Throughout the whole year Zadar is filled with great atmosphere and hosts numerous interesting manifestations. All visitors are particularly fascinated by the old part of the town, and the city itself is the real treasury of the archaeological treasures of the ancient and renaissance period. The symbol of the city is pre-Roman Church of St. Donat. It is interesting to mention some modern architectural achievements such as, “Sea organ” or “Greeting to the sun”. In the immediate vicinity of Zadar there are three Nature Parks – Telascica, Velebit and Vransko Lake and five National Parks – Paklenica, Plitvice, Kornati, Krka and North Velebit.

Šibenik

Šibenik is the oldest Croatian town on the Adriatic. The most famous symbol of the city is the Cathedral of St. Jakob, the most important Croatian architecture realisation from 15.th and 16.th century. This cathedral together with unique St. Nicolas fort (at the sea side of the city), are listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Although Šibenik is not big city, its history and beauty make him truly magnificent. Šibenik is town with four fortresses; St. Nicolas, St. Michael, St. John and Barone, where numerous concerts and cultural events are held in the summer nights. It is important to know that in Šibenik region there are even two National Parks, Krka and Kornati.

Trogir

The city of Trogir is the best-preserved Romanesque-Gothic city, whose the most important monument is cathedral of St. Lovre. Tragurium (old name of the city) was founded as settlement by Greek colonist – merchant from island Vis (ancient name Issa) during III century b.C.. The coastline of Kastela Gulf surrounds this historic city. Old part of the town is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. In the area of the city you can find two marinas that can accommodate up to 500 vessels. Adventure tourism is also on the rise, you can rent a sports boat, parachute, go fishing or on one-day cruise with the boat.

Split

Split is the largest city in Dalmatia and the second largest city in Croatia. The founder of the city is considered to be the Roman Emperor Diocletian, who begin on peninsula near Solin (ancient name Salona) in the year 293. with building of luxurious ancient imperial palace. Remains of palace are part of the historical core of the city of Split and it is listed on UNESCO World Heritage List in the year 1979. The place worth visiting is also one of the oldest Christian buildings in the world – Cathedral of St. Dujma, the patron saint of Split. In general, Split is known as a city of culture, gastronomy, natural beauties, sports and entertainment.

Dubrovnik

The city of Dubrovnik is one of the most important historical and tourist centres of Croatia. It is located on the very south of the country. Dubrovnik is often called as the city monument. The reason for this is the rich monumental heritage, which includes the historical core of the city with Stradun, Knezev Castle, church of St. Vlaho, the palace Sponza, Orlando’s column and all the others interesting historical churches, cathedrals and city streets. Take a walk along the Dubrovnik walls, climb the Dubrovnik steps, visit the charming restaurants and shops in the narrow streets or have a cocktail in bars. We guarantee, you will not forget it!
